Many of our staff offer almost four decades of expertise in multimodal transportation planning and engineering assignments throughout the Deep South. Rod Wilburn launched JRWA in 2009 following the acquisition of Day Wilburn Associates, Inc., a full transportation and engineering firm he co-founded in 1994.
James R. (Rod) Wilburn, AICP has been actively involved in transportation consulting throughout the southeastern states since the 1970s. His professional education and experience blends transportation planning with engineering skills to provide a fuly integrated approach to the project development process. In 2011, Stan Cauthen, P.E. joined JRWA as Senior Vice President to lead the company's engineering efforts. Mr. Cauthen brings over 40 years of experience in civil engineering, including general civil site design, road and bridge design, and construction.
JRWA is a small company offering a broad range of professional services. Based in Metro Atlanta, Alabama and South Carolina, our staff of 15 transportation professionals is balanced between the planning and engineering disciplines. We provide transportation planning, transit planning, bicycle/pedestrian facility planning and design, corridor and access management studies, environmental studies, roadway and bridge design, and traffic circulation and parking studies. The firm also maintains all licensing, registration, pre-qualification, and insurance coverages required by our clients.
JRWA emphasizes the availability of staff for project obligations and client responsiveness. Assignment of staff to marketing, proposal, and administrative tasks is closely monitored to protect the firm's financial stability. Support of this philosophy is evidenced by employment agreements for all principals and staff that reflect the expected fluctuations in project needs and availability by balancing projects commitments with flextime opportunities
